Living in Finland can be tough during dark winter days, but in the summer Finland is a berry paradise. Our forests are full of lingonberries, bilberries (blueberries), cloudberries, raspberries and cranberries, all of which are extremely nutritious and healthy—nature's superfood, one could say. In addition to all the berries in our forests, a lot of people in this northern country grow blackcurrants, redcurrants, whitecurrants and boysenberries...to name a few. Today, more and more people want to not only make juice or jams out of berries, but eat them raw in smoothies. We believe that the best berry smoothies are simple, yet healthy and tasty. Berry smoothies are nutrient-rich and full of vitamins. Berries are rich in inflammation-decreasing antioxidants and phytonutrients that help fight disease. Berry smoothies are also good sources of dietary fiber. Especially the skin of berries, such as bilberries, are high in dietary fiber. This means that eating them raw, for instance as part of a smoothie, makes a whole lot of sense.
