Feijoas are perfect for smoothies. today I want to share with you this lovely-looking smoothie bowl made with feijoa, berries and a banana. I used frozen blackcurrants as well as blackberries for the picture. If you don’t have either of these berries, you can use any other berries you have on hand.
If you haven’t seen my last feijoa smoothie recipe, I’d like to mention that I don’t peel feijoas when I use it in smoothies. While feijoa skins are too sour too eat as they are, their tart taste isn’t noticeable in a smoothie. So why waste the precious nutrients in the peel? 🙂
Feijoa isn’t only a tasty fruit, it is also rich in fibre, essential amino acids, potassium and vitamin C. Italian researchers have found that feijoas have high contents of folic acid and iodine. So if you can find this nutritious fruit in your local grocery store, try using the feijoas in your smoothies or just eat them as they are.
