What are the sunniest fruits there are? For me it’s mango and pineapple. They are so beautifully yellow like the sun and remind me of hot summer days. When I eat a smoothie with mango and pineapple, I just feel like I have been teleported to the Caribbean 😉 I can almost bet that this Tropical Ice Cream Smoothie will become your go-to ice cream smoothie – it’s that good.
After yesterday’s success with our delicious homemade coffee frappé, we decided to continue with the summer theme, so we made an ice-cold tropical smoothie. I really love how the texture turned out. It’s so creamy and thick.
In order to achieve this texture we used frozen mango and pineapple chunks, a scoop of vanilla ice cream (for sweetness) and a dash of almond milk. We are trying to cut on sugar without compromising the taste of the drink, which is why we added a scoop of ice cream to this smoothie. The ice cream gave the smoothie a pleasantly sweet taste, without any added sugar. You decide if you want to add some extra sweeteners like honey or sweet syrup. If you are trying to cut on your sugar intake, then at least taste the smoothie first before deciding to add any sweetener.
What is a Tropical Ice Cream Smoothie?
A tropical ice cream smoothie has the consistency of ice cream and is made with ice cream and frozen tropical fruits. The ice cream-like consistency is created by using frozen fruit. The difference between a tropical ice cream smoothie and tropical nice cream is that nice cream does not contain dairy products and is usually seens as a dairy-free alternative to ice cream.
